Project Update - May 28

Work continues to move along with tee construction. At this point rough tees have been built on holes 4, 8, 12 and 16. The sod was cut from the 14th tee boxes today and #5 is scheduled for Wednesday. We plan to complete the rough shaping of all remaining tees by June 10th at which time we will then smooth to final grade. If all goes well, we hope to have grass planted by June 14th.

We continue to find the best options for setting tees on holes where construction is occurring. You will notice a few adjustments since the weekend.
  • #8 will play as a short par 4 with the tee markers left of the forward tee construction.
  • #14 will also play as a short par 4.
  • #5 blue and white tees will play from the back right tee. The gold tee on #5 will be on a temporary tee box to the right of the pond by the old tee. The red tee on #5 will play from the fairway.
  • The blue and white tees on #16 will play from their usual tee boxes while the red and gold will play from the right of the construction area.
The sod around the new green complexes on holes 2, 9, 16 and 7 is coming along nicely. It is expected that holes 2, 9 and 16 will be ready to open June 1st with the 7th hole sometime the following week. Keep in mind, these holes will not be perfect when they are opened. However, they will be strong enough to facilitate play. The bunkers on these holes will be played as Ground Under Repair until the sand is added in late June.

We are experiencing near record high temperatures with lower humidity and high winds. This has made it difficult to keep the grass from turning brown, especially on slopes and drier areas. Adding to the challenge is a shortage of reclaimed water supplied from the city. Due to our "Snowbirds" having flown north for the summer, there are not as many people running showers, washing dishes or flushing toilets. Without this, there is not enough supply to guarantee a constant water supply for irrigation. In fact, the irrigation pumps have "faulted" off the last two nights due to low supply coming from the city. This means that anything set to water after the pumps faulted, did not get irrigation. The best we can do is irrigate our highest priority areas first, supplement the drier areas where possible and pray for rain.
