Something Out of Nothing

I have received many positive comments about the condition of the peninsula on #8 fairway. For those who weren't here this summer, I'll let you in on a secret. When we aerified greens at the end of May we spread all of the plugs over the bottom half of 8 fairway. This area struggles every year, primarily due to poor soil conditions and the low elevation compared to sea level. The paspalum grass on the greens is more tolerable to these conditions. While we haven't seen how it will react to the winter, the results have been great so far.

This isn't the first time we've used aerification plugs to renovate areas. Tees on 3, 5, 10 and 17 have all been renovated over the past few years in this fashion. We are currently growing in two more tees that were grassed with plugs from the greens aerification in September. The new forward tee on 9 and expanded forward tee on 2 will be ready soon. In fact, I plan to open the forward tee on #2 on Monday.
